Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

When you create an account or purchase a report, we collect:

• Email address (required for login and report delivery)
• Payment information (processed by Stripe — we never store card numbers)
• Search history within your account (jurisdictions queried, fiscal years selected)
• Usage data (number of searches, reports generated, watchlist items)

We do not collect your name, phone number, or physical address unless you voluntarily provide it when contacting us.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

• Authenticate your account and enforce plan limits
• Deliver purchased reports to your email
• Send watchlist alerts you have configured
• Send billing confirmations and receipts via Stripe
• Improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

FedAudit does not track your activity across other websites, does not use advertising cookies, and does not build behavioral profiles for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• USAspending.gov, Census Bureau, SAM.gov, OpenFEC — data sources. All public government APIs.
• Hostinger — web hosting. Your IP address may be logged in standard server access logs.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or billing compliance.

Search history and generated reports are retained for the duration of your subscription to allow you to re-download past reports.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.

7. Your Rights

You may request a copy of your personal data, request deletion of your account and associated data, or opt out of non-essential emails at any time by contacting us at hello@fedaudit.org.

8. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

FedAudit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
